Hello Everyone

Sitting here writing my final column as Chairman and looking forward to the weekend’s Christmas Rally, I am reminded that this time last year our rally programme was seriously disrupted. Indeed our Christmas Rally had to be postponed due to the adverse conditions prevailing at the time. Thankfully we do not have to contend with such hazardous driving conditions this year.

My term of office is rapidly drawing to a close and as the New Year dawns the club will be under the leadership of Mike Green who takes over as your new Chairman on 1st January 2012. I welcome Mike to the role and will provide all assistance required to ensure a smooth changeover takes place. May I also welcome Brian Cooper who takes over as your Vice Chairman and Arthur Osborne who becomes Rally Secretary. With the club being in their safe hands we can look forward to a continued future. On behalf of all members thank you for stepping up to the plate.
Over the past three years I have been entrusted with the task of representing the Club in dealing with other organisations and the management team at Lunar Caravans Limited. It has been a privilege and for the most part a pleasure in dealing with all matters Lunar. I must take time out to send special thanks to Lea Lawrence and Tony Swarbrick at Lunar, who together with Martin Henderson and Brian Mellor, have been most supportive of our ventures.
Closer to home, I would not have been able to complete much of the planned activities without the able assistance of the other officers of the club together with those members of the committee who gave freely and willingly of their time, especially during this last year when we operated with a much depleted committee due to members being unable to fulfil their attendance at our meetings for various reasons.
At this point I must take time to congratulate the outgoing Rally Secretary Anne Davis for her unfailing and tireless work on behalf of the members over the past eight years. My thanks go to Anne for her hard work and true endeavour in providing us with a comprehensive rally programme each year of her tenure. Enjoy your deserved retirement from the post.
Further mention goes to retiring committee members; Roy Mansfield for his two years as Vice Chairman, Donna Bellis for her five years on the committee, Arnie Bycroft for the past twelve months on the committee and Bill Harvey for the past twelve months as Newsletter Editor. Thank you one and all.
There also exists a special group of members whose work enables the club to thrive. They are the Rally Marshals who without their efforts the club would not exist I tagain I send my thanks to each and everyone of them.
 
Finally, I must give much credit and thanks to Margaret. She has supported my efforts and the significant amount of time that the Chairman’s role takes both in organising activities and attending most of the rally programme.

Margaret and I wish a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your families. We hope to see you all on the club rallies in 2012.
