keep visting the site for the latest news from the Chairman

Hello Everyone

Ok. Thanks to those of you who spotted my senior moment (too many of late I hear the cry), the Forum notes in the recent newsletter were for May 2009. I am indebted to the member who raised this with Editor Judy. My sincere apology to Judy who, at a very busy time, has been caused a deal of additional work.

Whoever has locked away the warm weather could we please have the key so that we can once again enjoy warm days and nights on the rally field.

Having just got back from Uttoxeter where we had plenty of strong breezes and wet weather it would be must more enjoyable with the sunshine that we had earlier in the year. Having said that, I am much more confident in the coming together of the arrangements for the ACCEO National Rally and AGM in September. During the rally the committee had the chance to chat with our members on the rally and gain valuable information and insight into both the rally field arrangements and local area services and attractions. Members were very positive and offered their assistance in many ways. In addition to that the help and assistance provided by the Management and staff of the Uttoxeter Racecourse Company was excellent. Again this bodes well for September.

Whilst not teaching granny to suck eggs, we arrived just as the groundstaff completed cutting the grass for us. They were very pleased to show us the newly mown area. Yes........ we spent the rally cleaning out the wet grass from awnings, vans and cars. Maybe we ask our field owners to leave the grass or not to cut just before we arrive!

As promised in my last column, the Lunar Owners Club Website has now been enlarged to allow our webmaster to develop the photo gallery and create an archive area. But of course he needs those photographs that we see members taking on the rally. Other developments will be ongoing but we should all realise that it takes time as there are other constraints on our webmaster’s time such as family and work. An area devoted to the ACCEO AGM Rally will be set up over the next few weeks.

The steady increase in membership continues. Each week I send out welcome letters to new members encouraging them to join in on a rally. The first rally experience is important and I am confident the our rallying members will make new ralliers feel welcome and part of the club. This exercise appears to be working as most rallies now have new members and others on their third and fourth rally etc.

From talking to other members I am pleased that their concerns for our less well members continues and it is good to hear that someone has spoken to so and so to see how they are and to just keep in touch. This proves that we do have a friendly club.

Our own AGM is not too far ahead and I know that some changes are more than possible within the committee. Please do consider either putting forward your name or discussing with other members to seek their nominations. Time soon flies by and our next newsletter will cover this in more detail.

Recently Alan Blair and I visited the Lunar Headquarters in Preston to meet the newly appointed marketing manager Lea Lawrence. It was pleasing to also meet up with other senior managers. This visit allowed us the chance to develop closer ties with the new team and both Alan and I believed this to have been a well wothwhile exercise.

Whichever rally you choose or are able to choose to join just one rule...... enjoy it, they are the life blood of the club.

Take care driving around the countryside. Whether it is in our own country or on the foreign rally in Holland your safety is important.

Margaret and I hope to see you soon on a rally, so take care.

Regards, Peter. May 2010
